What Is Luxury & What It Means To Us

After a few weeks away from the studio celebrating the holidays with family and friends, we’re back and ready to take on 2017!

This year, now that our new Design Process is in place, we’re changing things up a bit here on our blog. We’ll now be bringing you posts each month about a different theme related to the design world. Not to worry, you can still find our behind-the-scenes project photos and experiences along with inspirational pictures on Facebook and Instagram!

In January, we'll be chatting about luxury in the interior design world and what it means to us.

The Oxford Dictionary defines luxury as:

“A state of great comfort or elegance, especially when involving great expense. “

However, the fact of the matter is that luxury can be indescribable. Languishing in bed until 9 a.m., may be a simple luxury to some. For others, luxury could be a feeling or an extravagance. Depending on who you ask, luxury can have a variety of different meanings.

For Iris and I, luxury in design is about a level of service, beauty, a feeling invoked and living well. It's about more than the price tag on an item. For our interior design clients, there's a sense of luxury in being able to sit back, relax and enjoy a stress-free experience relying on our expertise and ability to implement their designs. We give our clients the courage to be brave and step outside their comfort zone. We infuse our designs with layers of luxurious materials, curated collections of timeless furniture pieces, customized artwork and fabrics and finishes for color and texture. The result is a fabulous space that is a true reflection or interpretation of our clients' wishes.

For the rest of the month we'll continue the conversation about what luxury is to us and show you some of the latest design trends that fall into the luxury category. In the meantime, we'd love to hear from you! How do you define luxury?
